AbstractTechniques of measuring the temperature of the unexposed surface of fire test specimens in ASTM Fire Tests of Building Construction and Materials (E 119)(or ULC S101) are critically reviewed. It is suggested that the present technique of measurement and the temperature criterion of failure be revised so as to facilitate the computer simulation of fire resistance tests.
