AbstractThe performance in fire of FRP strengthened concrete structures is a key issue that needs to beaddressed for the widespread application of FRP in buildings. This paper discusses approaches todeveloping design guidelines for such structures. To set the context of fire safe design of structures,this paper presents a general overview of North American and European approaches to the design ofstructures to address their performance in fire. The implication of these design approaches for FRPstrengthened concrete structures is discussed. The paper then presents a summary of existingresearch on the performance of FRP strengthened concrete structures in fire. Based on the availablework, recommendations for developing design guidelines for FRP strengthened concrete structures infire are discussed.
