AbstractThe influence of small amounts of high aspect ratio mica flakes on the high alumina cement matrices is reported. Significant increases in flexural strength and fracture toughness were observed in mica-high alumina cement composites; the dependence of strength and fracture toughness of these composites on porosity and volume concentration of mica flakes was established. Compressive strength decreases with the addition of mica flakes.
