AbstractThis report brings together several research studies to explain how to design meeting rooms to be speech secure and how to measure the degree of speech security of existing rooms. Speech security refers to a high level of speech privacy and corresponds to conditions in which it is difficult to understand speech from an adjacent room. For a high degree of speech privacy, transmitted speech might be barely intelligible or not even audible to an eavesdropper. Architectural speech security indicates that it is the speech security provided by the building construction and building systems.
