AbstractThis paper introduces three techniques for characterizing the high frequency performance of quantum well infrared photodetectors, and discusses the physical foundation and understanding of the experiments. The three techniques are (1) microwave rectification, (2) infrared heterodyne, and (3) heterodyne microwave mixing.
