AbstractConformationally locked 1,4-biradicals generated in the Norrish type II reaction of 1-benzoyl-2,2-diethylcyclopropane have lifetimes of 22?4 ns. This lifetime is much shorter than those observed for conformationally mobile biradicals; the difference is attributed to increased end-to-end interaction.
