Analysis of experimental cavitation data during propeller-ice interaction

AbstractPreviously published experimental results on the effects of cavitation on propeller loads in ice blocked flow are reviewed. Statistical calculations are provided for time domain records of torque during the operation of a propeler in the wake of an ice block. Performance of open and ducted propellers is plotted against cavitation number for a range of advance speeds. Blade pass pressure at two cavitation numbers is plotted along with a graphical indication of blade position for a given measured pressure. No interpretation of results is offered.
