AbstractThis report provides documentation of the setup of a system to monitor network traffic and a vulnerability scanner used on the Institute for Marine Dynamics Local Area Network. The monitoring system consists of a program, Multi Router Traffic Grapher, which monitors traffic and other network related information. This data can be viewed across the network by authorized users via a web server, Apache. The vulnerability scanner is a software package, Nessus, which looks for vulnerabilities on other computers and generates a report listing the vulberabilities and the level of risk associated with each. Additionally, this report provides an overview of the network configuration at the Institute for Marine Dynamics.
