Subjectlifeboat evacuation
AbstractResults are presented from a model tank test program designed to evaluate the performance of lifeboat evacuation in a range of environmental conditions. The aim of the program is to provide objective, reliable data concerning particular aspects of evacuation performance, which can be used by designers, regulators, and others in their decision-making. As the shipping industry follows the offshore oil and gas industry in requiring more rigorous management of safety, and as both industries and their regulators move increasingly toward performance standards rather than prescriptive rules, the availability of such information becomes a necessity for assessing and managing risk.
