AbstractFT-IR spectroscopy has been used to study micelle formation in aqueous sodium alkanoate systems. The critical micelle concentration ranges of sodium propionate through to sodium decanoate and the Krafft transitions of sodium laurate and sodium oleate were investigated. It is shown that FT-IR is a sensitive technique for such studies.
