AbstractThirteen different silicone sealants were exposed on strain- cycling racks simulating movements in external building joints. Following the use of differential scanning calorimetry to confirm that the sealants were indeed silicones, it was found that a quick outdoor exposure screening test, described here, could eliminate unsatisfactory materials within two months.
