AbstractThe problems involved in mounting strain gauges on reinforcing bars buried in concrete under a head of over 20 feet of saltwater are discussed, and the method used by the authors for moutning and waterproofing such gauges is described. As over 90 percent of the gauges remained active almost 9 months after installation the method is considered very effective.
