AbstractThis report documents the behaviour of evacuees from the October 17, 2003 fire in the 36-story Cook County Administration Building that resulted in several fatalities and injuries. The purpose of the study was to minimize the likelihood of recurrence of a similar event by studying occupants' behaviour during evacuation on the day of the fire, and assessing their training and fire safety experience prior to the fire and their knowledge of evacuation procedures.
