AbstractThe Robertson type flame spread apparatus was commissioned at the Fire Research Section, Institute for Research in Construction, National Research Council of Canada (FRS, IRC, NRCC) in 1983. It has been used in the International Maritime Organization (IMO) interlaboratory surface flammability tests. Materials received from the United States, Norway, and Japan were tested according to IMO Resolution A.516 (13). Information on the apparatus, its calibration, test method, list of materials tested, and results and remarks on flame spread and heat release are presented in this report.
