AbstractSamples of cement pastes prepared at w/c ratios of 0,5 to 1, 0 were predried to 75,42 or 11% R.H. and were then re- exposed to 100% R.H. Length changes were measured. Resaturated samples were immersed in propan-2-ol and diffusion rates and diffusivities were measured. Predrying to 42% R.H. increases diffusivities from 20 to 70% depending on the w/c ratio of the specimen. This is much less than increases observed by Parrott of several hundred percent. Increases are due to coarsening of pore structure during drying.
