AbstractThis report details the static ballasting procedures performed on the Slocum electric glider, and also the work done on developing new launch and retrieval methods and equipment to assist in the deployment of said gliders. The first section centers around the Slocum glider itself, going over the glider?s history of development, specifications, and current and possible uses. The procedures and steps involved in the glider static ballasting process are then discussed, with mention of the changes made to improve upon those methods. This discussion is followed closely by the report on launch and retrieval systems and methods for Slocum gliders. There are a multitude of sections, which go into a detailed look at every aspect of the design of the new launch and retrieval equipment, including the glider cart modifications, cart fan, and improved glider snare device.
