AbstractThe proper installation of adequate amounts of insulation is a major concern of homeowners attempting to reduce heating costs by retrofitting, and of insulation contractors. This note describes the installation of cellulose fibre in the walls and ceiling of a typical balloon frame house in Ottawa. A number of deficiencies in the installation were identified by thermographic inspection. Estimates of the energy savings are provided.
