AbstractThis report presents a comprehensive literature review on the multiscale modeling and simulation of crack nucleation and propagation. The emphases were on the mesoscale modeling. In particular, cohesive zone models and their applications were extensively reviewed and briefly described. The advantages and shortcomings of the cohesive zone models were pointed out and summarized.
