AbstractA linear finite element (MSC-NASTRAN) analysis of the stress distribution in the AGARD corrosion fatigue cooperative testing program (CFCTP) 11/2 dogbone fatigue specimen was performed at nominal tensions of 210 MPa and 144 MPa. The results indicate extreme complexity of the stress distribution even assuming ideally aligned grips. The preliminary linear analysis indicates a need for a more refined and costly nonlinear analysis.
